I have already lamented this in other venues, but not here. This was a strike in the heart. The beloved Knut died suddenly, which now seems to be caused by encephalitis.
I am not sure if we should be happy about visiting him before all this, but I guess it is ok. Funny though, there was the uprising in Libya, a tsunami in Japan and I am mourning over a polar bear kept and raised in captivity. I ought to be ashamed, really.

the death was due epilepsy, which Knut got from his father. Had a seizure too close to the pool and dropped in and drowned.
