16½ hours worth, probably not that great an achievement. Killed 800 some foes with 11K shots, but getting some 26% of accuracy -- where the peep the rest of the bullets went?
Excellent story line, like almost a movie, pretty pictures too. The fire demons were the most annoying things to kill, especially before understanding it was the quality of the fire power not the amount of it and found the grenade launcher.
The Abduction scene proved to be most difficult. Got killed several times before figuring out that not all the foes needed gutting. Aimed towards the tower and got through.
Hated the scenes were you just had to wander for a certain time before getting forward.
But the real question is: what next? Would I need to get back to Assassins and learn to kill people more effectively to get through that -- I guess I was somewhere close to 50% before getting tired.

Unettomuuden hyväksikäyttö: Pantheon, Panthéon, ja Parthenon
Pantheon, pantheon, vai Parthenon... jostain syystä on ollut mahdotonta muistaa näiden kolmen eri palvontapaikan nimiä, joten käytin aamuyön hetken hyvin:
Pantheon löytyy Roomasta. Alun perin roomalainen kaikkien [roomalaisten] jumalien temppeli. Rakennettu 126 jaa. Parhaiten säästynyt antiikin Rooman aikainen rakennus. Kävin siellä 2006 ja temppeli oli todella vaikuttava kokemus. On vaikea kuvailla miten tuo oculus katossa tuo valon tähän arkkitehtuurin mestarinäytteeseen.
Panthéon löytyy Pariisista. Panthéon valmistui juuri Ranskan vallankumouksen aikaan ja mistä alunperin piti tulla kirkko, tulikin mausoleumi arvostetuille ranskalaisille ja josta tuli sittemmin kirkko, josta tuli mausoleumi, ... nykyään paikka on mausoleumi, johon on haudattu arvostettuja ranskalaisia: Victor Hugo, Voltaire, Rousseau,... ja Pierre ja Marie Curie omissa lyijyarkuissaan. Paikalla kävin muistaakseni vuonna 2009.
Parthenon löytyykin sitten Akropolilta Ateenasta. Rakennettu noin 400 eaa. Nimi tulee Athena Parthenos ~= "young maiden" eli nuorien tyttöjen paikasta eli siis viisauden jumalattaren ja Ateenan suojelijan Atheneneen temppelistä. Paikalla kävin vuonna 97?

Ensimmäinen kokonainen kuukausi ilman päivityksiä...
ja kun vielä toukokuu oli tapahtumaa täynnä.
Iloisempiakin osa. Osa vähemmän. Kuolemantapaus tässä lähellä. Tosin oli jo aika, joten suurena järkytyksenä ei tullut.
Levilläkin poikien kanssa. Uudet sukset kokemassa. Tosin suhrasin jo pohjan Syötteellä pääsiäisenä.
Primavera jälleen, meni hieman överiksikin. Ensimmäistä kertaa niinkin.

Bought new skis
My first new set of skis since... very early 90's. Last pair of skis I bought was Kneissl White Stars 185cm bought back in, you know. Unfortunately they put in the bindings with too long screws and the skis were ruined. I loved them really, as long as they lasted, before the bottom gave up. I got to choose from very poor selection a replacement I took some, cannot even remember what, but shaise skis anyways, 200cm of disappointment. But I was poor and had no choice really.
I bought the next pair of skis from Messilä ski rental shop for, if my memory serves me right, 120FIM. This was somewhere -99 or so. They were a bit beaten up Fischer RC4 Vacuum Competition old skool no-carver skis. I thought that they would serve me for a quite a while -- and they did, I probably used them only a couple of times in a decade before the year 2009.
Now I skied with the dear old Fischer skis last and this year, before deciding to try new carvers at Vihti. I rented Atomic Race Ti SGs and loved them instantly. There was not a point of time when I did not feel fully trusting the skis. It was something I had never felt and ... I fell in love.
I started to search such a skis. Vihti ski rental asked 600€, which even I though was a bit too much. I found some in internet for 500€ and was about to buy one, but was held back by the price and the opportunity to support Ida's guitar playing wishes by purchasing a guitar for her. Then, funnily though, Ida's skates were found to be broken and we needed to buy new ones and when coming back from Lucky skate I said that let's go out to eat and we chose to eat at the chinese in Sello. Girls had something to shop for and I decided to spend the time visting the local Intersport. They had many interesting skis there: Rossingol WC's #9, FIS qualified SGs, Fischer RC4s ... and when I said that I have really tried to find me a pair of Atomic skis -- the guy asked, "You mean one of these?", and handed me a pair of GSs. The rest is history.

Knut RIP
I have already lamented this in other venues, but not here. This was a strike in the heart. The beloved Knut died suddenly, which now seems to be caused by encephalitis.
I am not sure if we should be happy about visiting him before all this, but I guess it is ok. Funny though, there was the uprising in Libya, a tsunami in Japan and I am mourning over a polar bear kept and raised in captivity. I ought to be ashamed, really.

Berlin family vacation
Since it has been a long winter it was time to get to a trip to South, though not too far South, there are riots there.
Berlin, what an excellent idea, it will be .... not warm there. Last February it was -20c, that's cold. Luckily this year it was not that cold, only around -6, but with the wind it meant that the weather was pretty winterly.
Anyhow the whole idea to go to Berlin was thanks to one Polly Jean, who doesn't ever seem to visit Finland. Well, she did, back in 1995, which I missed, not the year, but the gig in Tavastia, since I had not yet moved to Southern Finland, but lodged in the North and had no idea of this happening. Though I did miss the Radiohead in that tent that year too, but that was just because of my stupidness. Saw Stone Roses though, but I guess that was 1996?
Anyhow, noticed that PJ Harvey was giving two gigs in Berlin the Spring 2011, this happened back in November last year and I got this wild idea to go and witness the goddess herself live at a stage. Had no idea that PJ would eventually sign also to perform at Primavera, but then again I had no idea that I would go to Barcelona this year, our thoughts were to change the venue this year. Anyhow there it was, PJ Harvey in Berlin and when Air Berlin choose to sell tickets for 310€ for 3 there was no going back.
The hotel was way more difficult, since it seems that it is next to impossible to get a decent priced hotel room for 3 from Berlin, sure for 2 you can get with less than 100€, but for three it is around 150€. Thus chose to stay at the Radisson Blu, the one with the fish tank.
We flew in at around 3 pm local time. The hotel room was nice, facing towards the Berlin Dom. Went to the Sea Life first to get the ride with the lift inside the fish tank, which is nice, but what if one wants to go just for a lift ride, would that be possible -- it does not seem to, but I at the end I did not ask.
Currywurst was currywurst and picked Austrian Pinot Noir from Galleria. Let's see how that will land. All in all, a nice day sightseeing with visit to the Niklaiviertel, the GDRian implementation of medieval city, and having a stroll on the banks of Spree.
The next day brought the visit to the Berlin Zoo, for second time in my life. The place had probably changed a lot as had the Berlin itself, but I have only very limited memory of the place back in then. Remembered the Panda bear, though, I wonder if it is still the same -- probably not. I do not know how long do the Panda bears live, but it's been twenty years.
Anyhow, there was a bigger celebrity there to be seen. The Eisbär Knut!!!! You know the story? Well I do not bother to repeat it, google it for yourself.
Had to ask from local people to identify which one of the bears was the Knut and was told that Knut is da hinter, which I think is in the back in English. It might have been an abuse for all that I know. Anyhow there at the back was the Knut and some of his local fans, who were kind enough to let us know how they know it is the Knut, but unfortunately only in German, and thus I cannot really share that with you, but it was something about the head and the feet.
Last time it was lions to mate, now it was monkeys doing it, but apart from that most of the animals looked pretty bored. The aquarium was nice though, but I think had seen a bit too many fishes already.
Visit to KaDeWe was naturally the next step, being a u-bahn station away. Bought some German rotwein after asking for a good German rotwein. This one's called Meyer-Näkel and should now be really good, but let's see. Cost me 22€, thus will be the last bottle of German red wine ever if it does not live up to the expectation. The one they first offered from the same house was worth of 90€, a bit out of my league.
The evening was the gig at the Admiralspalast a one s-bahn station away from the hotel. I probably will write a separate review of that later on.
The last day. We had the plane at 3 pm, thus leaving us some time to visit somewhere before leaving to airport. We walked from the hotel to see the last bit of wall standing and got to see a brand new museum Topography of Terror about the Nazi horrors from 1933 to 1945 at the site of where the Gestapo HQ among other things was back then. Visit also at the Hitler and the Germans exhibition in the Deutsches Historisches museum on the way to the wall.
Very nice albeit a brief visit to Berlin. Nice city and will probably pop in a bit more often, due Air Berlin pricing and the shortness of the flight.

This is 1111!!!
The day of binary code 010111 ... anyhow time to look back to last year.
January:
Tripping in New Mexico. Long flight to Albaquerque; took 24h due a bit delay in Washington. Had a short pit-stop at Dallas on the way back, had a nice rental there VW Jetta with V6 engine. Had cockroaches in the first hotel room, broken air vent system on the next...
February:
Visited Tallinn to eyewitness the figure skating EM 2010, go Laura, go!! In Tallinn it was so cold that you could hear the hell freezing over. Had a traditional dinner in Controvento, local Italian joint. The ex-owner of the place was shot down by local Mafia some years ago. And Laura did get the Silver!
March:
Tripping in Boston and Chelmsford. Stayed in Boston Back Bay, which was actually very nice. There is fewer and fewer contract hotels and no staying at the Sheraton Commander anymore, which is sad.
And already forgotten one nighter in Paris. Got lost in the La Defence.
April:
Whole family picked up downhill skiing and we ended up visitin Ylläs for the last weekend. Took the car train to Kolari and drove the last 30 some kilometers to tunturi. Weather was very nice when we arrived and at the last day, but we did get to ski.
May:
Primavera!
June:
Italy: Cattolica and Lido
August:
Helped Aapo to move to Stockholm.
September:
Business trip to Munich.
October:
Visted Tampere to witness Einsturzende Neubauten. Stayed two nights in the Hotel Cumulus.
Some renovation, which at the end seems to get to an bitter argument between us and the carpenter. Spend the days in Scandic Espoo -- quite lousy joint.
November:
Business trip to Berlin and Munich
December:
Visitin Oulu/Liminka for holidays and a short one night biz trip to Munich. Got promoted to Finnair Silver.
Spend 40 nights in hotels, cottages, apartementoses, ...
Read eight books...
Cities visited overnight:
Albuquerque
Irving
Boston
Chelmsford
Paris
Kolari
Barcelona
Cesenatico
Santa Maria in Pietrafitta
Inkoo (an island at the sea)
Venice
Stockholm
